Palodent V3

Palodent V3 Starter Kit
70% of clinicians1 find contact creation to be one of the most challenging aspects of completing a class II restoration.  Palodent® V3 was designed to provide clinicians with the tools to build a strong foundation for completing a successful class II restoration.  Each component of the system is optimized for ease of use and performance, resulting in accurate contact creation and consistent results.

The Palodent V3 Sectional Matrix system is comprised of six precisely designed components; rings, matrices, wedges, WedgeGuards®, forceps and pin tweezers.  All of which have been designed and refined for optimal performance individually and as a system.  As a result, Palodent V3 is amongst the most simple and accurate matrix systems available on today’s market.

Palodent V3 delivers:

Accurate contacts:
Poor contact creation can lead to fractures, food impaction, gingival inflammation and recurrent caries.  The Palodent V3 nickel-titanium rings offer a consistent separation force on molars and premolars, securing the anatomically shaped Palodent V3 matrix against the preparation for a predictable and accurate contact, every time.

Tight seal:
When using resin-based restoratives, isolation is essential for success.  The Palodent V3 ring works with the matrix and wedges to create a tight seal around the restorative field, allowing the clinician to confidently move forward into the procedure.

Increased efficiency:
The Palodent V3 system components work together to seal and shape the restoration, minimizing flash and the required time spent finishing, as well as the chance of having to re-do the restoration due to a poor contact.  The system can be configured for multiple restorations at once, and the WedgeGuard provides added efficiency by protecting the adjacent tooth, allowing the clinician to prepare the cavity without worry.

Stress free class II restorations:
Use Palodent V3 in combination with SDR® (Smart Dentin Replacement) to simplify and optimize the class II restorative procedure.  SDR has up to 60% less polymerisation stress2 which means it can be bulk-filled in 4mm increments.  SDR’s flowable consistency results in self levelling and full cavity adaptation without the need for manipulation with a hand instrument.  Palodent V3 and SDR are the perfect partners for producing fast, optimal and stress free class II restorations.

Matrices (5 sizes)
  •  Pronounced marginal ridge for ideal anatomy
  •  Significantly greater curvature on horizontal plane as matrix wraps around tooth
  •  Ginigival apron is optimally shaped to significantly prevent gaps in ginigval-axial corner

EZ Coat matrices (5 sizes)
  •  The Palodent V3 EZ Coat matrices retain all the innovative features and benefits of Palodent V3 matrices but come with the added bonus of a micro-thin, non-stick finish that makes matrix removal even easier
  •  Greater matrix curvature that helps improve the anatomical accuracy of the restoration
  •  Five colour-coded sizes as refills

WedgeGuards (3 sizes)
  •   Facilitates faster and easier cutting of cavity and lowers risk of interproximal damage to adjacent tooth
  •   Guard detached after preparation, leaving the wedge in place

Question:1) Can the Palodent V3 rings be used on wide cavity preparations?
Answer

Yes. The tines are designed to be able to grip the adjacent teeth which allows the ring to remain stable on the tooth and prevents it from falling into wide cavity preparations.

Question:2) Can the Palodent V3 rings be used when a cusp is missing?
Answer

Yes. The tines are designed to grip the adjacent teeth and also down low near the gingival margin. Depending on the anatomy of the tooth, it is sometimes best to build up the bulk of the cusp prior to placing the ring.

Question:3) Can the Palodent V3 rings be used on deciduous teeth?
Answer  Yes. The narrow ring is designed for use on deciduous teeth and pre molars.
Question:4) Can the Palodent V3 rings be sterilised and re-used?
Answer Yes. The Palodent V3 rings, forceps and pin tweezers have been tested successfully through 1000 autoclave cycles. The rings should be steam-autoclaved at 134°C for a minimum of 3 minutes as other methods can damage or stain the rings.
Question:5) How can I remove bonding agent from the Palodent V3 ring?
Answer  Soak the ring in alcohol for a few minutes to soften the bonding agent before steam autoclaving, the bonding agent can then be removed.  A light layer of Vaseline before use will help prevent the bonding agent from sticking to the ring.
Question:6) Can the Palodent V3 rings be used on MOD’s?
Answer
Yes. You can stack the rings or have one facing mesially and one facing distally. The ring tilts up, away from the marginal ridge of the tooth, allowing more room for another ring to be placed underneath, on the next tooth. In most cases, it is best to place the rings in opposite directions.
The recommended method is:
·         Place WedgeGuard both mesially and distally and complete cavity preparation.
·         Remove guard and slide mesial and distal matrix bands into position and place bonding agent according to manufacturer’s directions for use.
·         Place the ring on mesial and build and cure mesial contact point
·         Move the ring to distal and build and cure distal contact point
·         Complete the occlusal surface
Question:7) How do I retain the ring if the tines start to separate?
Answer
Place it in the notches in the handles of the forceps. Squeeze it like a nutcracker until the tines touch and the ring is back to its original form.
Question:8)
Can I place the wedge with the Palodent V3 ring in place?
Answer Yes. The v-shaped tines of the ring allow you to place a wedge without removing the ring.
